Elder Scrolls Online: Q&A on Cyrodiil

Following its previous Q&A on PvP on Elitist Jerks and the "Creating Cyrodiil’s Keeps", Zenimax Online gave us more info on The Elder Scrolls Online's skill progression by publishing a new "Ask Us Anything" on the topic of Cyrodiil.

New information were given on Cyrodiil's maps, keeps and resources, siege weapons, rankings and various game mechanics.

Elder Scrolls Online: Creating Cyrodiil's Keeps

The three Alliances of Elder Scrolls Online battle within the region of Cyrodiil around fortified keeps. They are critical to each side's war effort and the Zenimax team couldn't just create art straight away when creating the keeps. They had to meet technical requirements: destructible keep walls, siege weapons and large numbers of player characters on-screen.

The actual layout of the keeps was very important. It had to allow for multiple stages within the battle and combat mechanics needed to be taken into accounts, like knockbacks, gap closers and area abilities.

Elder Scrolls Online: Q&A on Progression

Following its video preview on Character progression, Zenimax Online gave us more info on Elder Scrolls Online's skill progression by publishing a new "Ask us Anything" on the topic.

As pointed out in both the video and our last news on this topic, you'll gain skill points by exploring, doing quests and levelling. You can then spend those points in several skill lines in eight major categories: race, class, weapons, armors, guilds, PvP, world and tradeskilling. Those skills can be active or passive. Each level, you'll also gain a point that can be used in one of the three attributes (health, magicka, or stamina).

The questions asked gave answers on several points, as seen below.

Elder Scrolls Online Character Progression

When Zenimax Online first announced The Elder Scrolls Online, one of the key areas they kept talking about was the idea of making a character your own. Their goal was to take the freedom of progression from Skyrim and its prequels and bring it into a multiplayer game. Essentially the idea that you can build your own character with skills you chose and have it be just as effective as another player's build. An interesting concept, but how does it work in practice? In this week's updates, Zenimax is giving players a video walkthrough and a blog post offering a more thorough explanation of their designs and intentions with TESO's progression system.
