Cleric Epic Riddles

SOE sent us some more riddles. This time for the Cleric Epic. There are two of them. Rather than making two posts, I'll post them both below and then post the answers later. Riddle No 1. "I was struck with iron at birth, and again and again throughout life." "I have seen many battles and witnessed terrible strife." "Even when victorious, I'll emerge battered and thrashed." "For every time I'm wounded, another is saved from the pyre ash." Riddle No. 2 "What has outlived the Gods but has never been seen, And the more there is of it, the less there will be?"

#1 is a shield or armor for reasons stated by others.

#2 is Time. Time has out lived all gods an the more of it that passes the less of it there is.

so from these 2 answers i get the inpression the the cleric epic will be a "Shield of Time".

Now, before people say "but a shield isn't a weapon" noone ever said that a epic had to be a weapon, i think it would be kinda cool to be able to use both epics at the same time.

Ahhhh gotta love a SOE riddle:

I agree the #1 should be armor, it makes more and more sense with each part of the riddle.

But on #2 - Time seems to be an alternative that I like better.

Now to wait for answers that will come...

I will agree with everyone else on #1, shield or armor.

For #2 I am thinking Time.
I guess faith could be it but time makes more sence to me.

stumped on 2

Well i have to say that the 1st would be a shield for sure because evertime it gets dented or even just hit it save the wielder from death.
The second is more difficult to figure out Nothing is a first impression however it has to be more than that because it is a clue to the epic.also the more nothing you have can not be less.
well i have wracked my brain on this long enough so i will wait for the answer lol

#1 Sounds like a shield. A shield is generealy the piece of armor that is the most battered and thrashed of all.

#2 I agree that "nothing" would be the answer here. What this would have to do with the cleric epic is beyond me though. Is this to say that the cleric epic will be......nothing? lol

The answer to #1 is armor...

"I was struck with iron at birth, and again and again throughout life."
~ Being forged, and then being repaired or attacked while fighting

"I have seen many battles and witnessed terrible strife."
~Been in battles.. some kind of war equipment

"Even when victorious, I'll emerge battered and thrashed."
~After winning the battle it is battered-up

"For every time I'm wounded, another is saved from the pyre ash."
~When the armor is wounded, it's owner is saved from the funeral pyre... being cremated and burned to ash after being killed...

#1 is a Sword
#2 is Nothing

Although #1 could be armor or a sheild, the last line kind of says once its broke another will be forged. Armor and Sheilds can be repaired, Swords can not. You have too melt them down again and start from the beginning.

And I have too agree with Qaanol and skizophrenik on #2. If you have more of something then someone else would have less. And I would think that would also go with the opposite being Nothing.

take it for it's worth, just my thoughts on the subject.
Answer to number 2...
# Aug 27 2004 at 8:26 AM Rating: Decent
Number 2 *could* be hope, or faith like mentioned.

The more there is of it, the less there will be.

The more hope/faith some people have, the less other people may have (especially during a battle).

Oh, and the answer to Number 1 more than likely *is* a shield since the Cleric epic is a shield. heh

1 is a shield

2 is faith
true..

The answer doesnt necessarily have anything to do with the piece itself as much as maybe something involving the quest, or the lore around it, who knows. Like the monk riddle before this one, and the answer that went with it, didnt have anything to do with a weapon or armor of any kind.

And no you're right lol, there can't be more or less of nothing. But, the more there is, the less of anything else there could be.
: )
# Aug 26 2004 at 10:47 PM Rating: Decent
heck there cant be more of nothing or less of nothing
WHY
# Aug 26 2004 at 10:46 PM Rating: Decent
why would the answer be nothing if the riddle is for something (the epic)
#1) A Helmet, #2) Nothing
# Aug 26 2004 at 10:22 PM Rating: Decent
Riddle No 1.

The first line suggests it is something forged.
The second line suggests it is used in battle.
The third line suggest some type of armor.
The forth line suggests that the armor protects a vital part of the body.

The answer is a helmet.

Riddle No. 2

Nothing has outlived the Gods.
"Nothing" has never been seen.
The more "Nothing" there is, the less [things] there will be.
guessing

1. Gonna have to guess shield on this one but still thinking about it. For some reason, I keep finding myself wanting to think it has something to do with something thats not a weapon or armor, or directly used in combat. I think I'm over analyzing it an driving myself nuts.

2. I would say "Nothing" Only thing I can think of that the more you have, the less there would be and also can't be seen. And if you think of Gods as being eternal, just for the sake of argument, then it kinda fits there too.

My opinion is...
# Aug 26 2004 at 7:03 PM Rating: Decent
No doubt the answer to #2 is time.
For the first one...a hammer is a decent choice, except that it wouldn't come out "battered and thrashed". As Funked said, armor that is damaged could easily let a blow through. So, with those in mine, my opinion is that it will be a shield. =)

tha answer to the first one is a sword
RE: Riddle #1 answer
# Aug 26 2004 at 3:41 PM Rating: Default
Good guess Johntn, But I think the 3rd line is better answered by "Armor"

If you except that all things will end, then the answer to the second one is "time"
RE: Riddle #1 answer
# Aug 26 2004 at 4:20 PM Rating: Decent
I would have to agree with Johntn, armor that is wounded could easily let a blow through, killing its owner.

Just a thought....

And just to thow my opinion around a bit more (heh) I would have to agree that time is the answer to number 2
