okie i download all the patch crap and then it sied that no 3d thingy found so i seid np i just up date the drivers for DX and then i updated the drivers for my vidio card (rage 128 pro) np i thought woud fix it but nooooo!!!! it just couldnt be that easy. so im going back to bed because at least i got the download.

and btw who ever that guy is that is saying the crap the everone is fat and ever thing is mostly fat him self and got bored with playing with him self so he has to make him self feel all big by coming on here and trying to make fun of us the ones that need help with this crap.... so keep it up fat boy your just making your self look stupid!

This whole fandango really isn't that bad...
Verant and sony have given crap in the past, and this hasn't been much fun, but look at it logically. They worked really hard on this to make it good, and they did if you have gotten in. The server problem they actually did try to fix ahead of time, but since velious wasn't this bad they probably didn't account for this as much as they should have. This is the longest the servers have been down since Kunark, thats pretty good, so all you whining about not being able to play last night can wait, its just a game for goodness sake.

And to all complaining about upgrading, if you are running windows 95 on 128 megs of ram with a 8 meg video card, its time for an upgrade, and these days computers and parts arn't that much. And besides, win 95? come on, that is the crappyist operating system compaired to now when you have 98se, 2000 and XP, its time for a change. They have every right to do it to, cause its their game and too keep ahead of all the new online games they have to compete somehow.

The last thing is compatability problems, and this is where I think they screwed up the most. A decision to go with almost exclusive T&L was a mistake, cause even I fall into this catagory. They should have made things a little more compatable and atleast put directx 8.1 on the cd if it was required, that was just dumb. Other than those problems, this is a great game and just cause of this one night where people couldn't play everyone shouldn't start crying over how horrible it is, cause when you get on your gonna forget your worries, especually if you have a nice upgraded computer. Nuf said.

Check the www.everquest.com website, there is a download patch for everquest.exe there that may help. Also, make sure that you are using DirectX 8.1 and load current drivers for your sound and video. Get the current drivers and install them after installing 8.1 even if your drivers are already current. Then, expect problems when playing. Anything like this always requires more work than expected and several bugs are sure to crop up in the future...that's just the way it goes. Think Verant hurt themselves by expecting the entire system to be changed and up in one day, that was really ambitious. Too bad, though, I was just about to take my first attempt at fletching a Trueshot...Still have my fingers crossed.

Last night I finished the download by patching from test.

Basically I went into the advanced properties, and changed the environment to test. I only did this to get the global files which are the same. Cancel it after that, because Test has extra files you'll just have to download again to play on the regular servers. It seemed I was having the problems mostly with the global files, everything else patched really quickly.

before patch - 233MHz 128 ram 4 Vram - EQ worked fine

After patch - 233MHz 256 ram 4 vram - eq runs like ****.

and i didn't upgrade to luclin either! plz help!

My patcher says it will take 8 hours to complete the dl..more bull s**t. Im on dialup with 56k con. Anyone else haveing this long of a time on dialup?
