It says I dont have a 3d bull crap thing but thats ok because I figure the experts will have it fixed tomorrow hopefully. I think everyone just needs to calm down.

i can download it all smooth, but when i try to play is says that eqgfx_8x.dll was unable to load, WTF does that mean?

www.everquest.com is reporting that all items on your characters were lost in the patch! WTF? they say they will give everyone a leg up kit. i want my f00king money back, thats soooo bs.

BTW, turn off your virus scan when downloading the video drivers. Thats what they tell you at my driver site anyway. Again.... Good Luck.

just read that all servers will be down till saturday morning, dec 8, 8am est. they have a lot of work to do and they say everything will be ok by then.

Took me only minutes to get on but had to use drivers from everquest.com's website for my geforce. Graphics for wolf form ROCK!!!!! but they are bringing the servers down 1 at a time for small patch. but it looks coooollllll!!!!

Oh yeah I figured I'd put this post up for anybody interested as well.. For any of you who don't already know about www.pricewatch.com.. you'll thank me! You can find just about anything computer related (RAM, CPUs, Video Cards, etc.) for about half what you'll find it for at a retail store.. go pick up a 512 MB stick of ram for about 30 bucks : )

I have ATI 4M - which appears to be the equivalent of a Rage 128 for laptops. Always worked before, just installed new driver, could it be a problem on their end? I am installing directX 8.1 now, already have 8.0, don't think that's going to help. I've been at this for 12 hours now, am fed up, just want to kill something at this point.

i have aol dsl and it's taking like 3 hours.. how on earth could a dial up do it in an hour.. did i miss a file i was supposed to get from some link that will speed it up or am i just stupid slow?

Well thanks to a man with Pepper (hehehehe) I got on, It is great the wolf forms and skellies both look great if you see problems petition right awaay. whole zones aare going down and whole servers so its time to go to bed and give thems 10 or 12 more hours to get it right.
AND BIG THANKS TO ALLAKZ AND PEPPER with out them i still would not be in game.
just a little note i got to Wc, Feerott, rathe, and NK befor my hole server dropped MT.
I did take around 40 min with dial up and with peppers help to finaly get on.

Hi i see alot of you having problem with the 3d device not found.

I have few solutions that might help you. First off theirs is only few things that can cause this error.

#1 You have installed the incorrect DirectX version. To get the correct one goto to this link and download direct x 8.1 Make sure you get the correct direct x for your OS.

#2 You may have the correct Direct X installed butt your sound card isn't supported by SoL. To see if your video card is supported go to the link i've posted here and check.

Also at this link thier is links to upgrade your video drivers for you card you may have a old driver installed you may need to update your card.

Note if your card isn't listed then your video card isn't supported their for you must go purchase one of the video cards listed at the link above.

Well thanks to the earlier links (a couple of hours ago) from the so-called "Pepper guy" I got into the game eventually. I have an nVidia GEFORCE card and today I made sure I installed the latest driver, upgraded to DirectX 8.1 and followed all of Verants' support advice...

(Note: I live in Australia and don't have SoL yet)

My first experience in game since the new patches? GREAT! My wolf form looks AMAZING - and when medding I actually SIT DOWN! LOL! Also my experience was very smoooootthhh running - no lag, even better than normal to be honest.

Went to the wizard spires in Greater Faydark - a lovely NPC lady in the middle of the spires upon being hailed told me that I should tell her if I wanted to go to Luclin - she was about to port. So that clears up the issue of how to GET there... Apparently one of these wizards now resides in all spires...

A little birdie told me that horses could be bought somewhere in Kelethin but I didn't find any for sale before having to log out for the mini-patch they're doing. I still have yet to figure out if it will be an actual HORSE for sale, or just the magic whistle that summons it.

Anyhow - that's my views - hope it helps. Oh and one last thing - a halfling called "a greedy begger" now resides outside the docks in Butcherblock - asks you for money if you hail him and if you give him money he asks if you have anything else to give him. Never saw HIM before - so I'm thinking this must be someone important in a new Luclin quest. Just thought I'd post that for information purposes.

I got on about 20 minutes ago thanx to the patches from the pepper person, now verant is bringing down the servers once again =) one at a time for supposedly 20 minutes, plan on a 5 hour outage folks, im goin to bed

Anyone that is recieving the 3d devices error needs to browse on over to the official EQ site from Sony. They have a fix for it.
