Let me express what many of you are feeling right now: Arrrrrrrrrgh! Let me in! Let me in! I want my Kitty! *breathe* OK. According to Sony, they are aware of the problems and are working on them, including bringing on more patching servers. Why they didn't think of this before, since this is almost identical to what happened at the original release is beyond me, but I'm sure they want you to play their game as much as you want to play it. Feel free to use this forum to try to help each other get into the game or to just console each other while you wait.

no one needs new video cards or new drivers or new computers or updates. obviously, everyone is having same problem, so common sense says the problem is on their end and will be taken care of. just relax and quit giving/receiving bogus info and tech help from people on this site. the info is just gonna ***** up your computer. no one on this site is a technical expert and will end up costing you thousands. let the experts figure it out, and in due time, it'll be working. meantime, read a book, study, date, etc.

Stupid patcher. I had to run it like 20 times to download all the files. I didn't buy luclin yet and when I got in the game I had to set some options like the video card and language. Everything seemed fine until I got to the loading screen. Its blurry. Get to the character screen, Letters look like I'm playing an atari game. Get in the game, zoning takes forever, skellys don't move when attacking, all the buttons customized look stupid and blurry with the font not enclosed within the button anymore. Inventory was blurry. To some extent the characters were too. Lag was bad. Got cutoff about 5 times. The best thing that happened was when I loading the game up for the 4th time at the end of the loader it said you got better at loading (4) LOL. Hope they fix all that with the patch. Also bards couldn't play songs. You couldn't go into wolf form in faydwar because the guards would kill you. I'm gonna go get some more RAM sometime soon since I have 128 but my video card, drivers, and direct X is all up. I hope even without the ram befor I upgrade to luclin the old graphics system will still be able to be run without all that blurry nonsense.

I would try downloading the latest drivers for your graphics card. Make sure you are running directx 8.1 and make sure your computer meets minimum specs. If everything is updated directx should adjust your graphics hardware to display everything properly.

I have an HP Pavilion with integrated video card that has 11 megs allocated. I am guessing that means I will need to upgrade video since they say you have to have 16+megs video now. = (
I'm getting the little black boxes and everything's blury or just black.

You may not be able to upgrade your graphics card since your motherboard is integrated. Unless you have an agp graphics slot.

I am pretty sure I have an agp graphics slot. If not, I guess I won't be playing anymore because I do NOT have the extra $1k+ laying around for a whole new computer.

RAAARGH!! THROGG SMAAASH VERANT!

I'm getting that same no 3d card BOOSHIZNIT. anyone found a fix for it or am I going to have to fork over $2k to play again. I've DL'ed dx8(even thought it came with win ME), DL'ed my drivers(voodoo5 5500 AGP 64 meg) and prayed to the god of computers to let me play(I did a little dance, too) still nothing :\

Ok heres the thing my video card worked perfectly with the old everquest(not this patch stuff). I get the no 3d devices crap now and i have directx 8.1(took me 2 hours to download). I went to my display settings and looked at the adapter for my video card and it reads:

RAGE PRO TURBO 1X (English) (DirectX)

does anyone know what kind of video card that is and/or where i can find some new drivers for it.

Some other info on info/adapter:

software version: 5.11-C9C
manufacturer: ATI Tech. - Enhanced

Any help is apreciated.

My comp is a Vaio celeron 350
159 megs ram.
These should work because i dont have sol i just want to play.

Bah I just downloaded all those files and it says "No 3d devices detected". I have a 32mb Geforce how can it not detect that!!!!

Go into dxdiag under the display tab make sure 3D acceleration is enabled

OK I know everyone is going to say I don't know about what I'm talking about but when we had our old computer and we played in secound F10 view we had Black boxes that were unable to be seen thru instead of dark transparancy or the clear transparancy around every boxed item in that view what needs to be done is to turn off your Polygons that is done by hitting the originally programed key ` or the ~ if you have reprogamed that key to something else it will not work and I have no idea where or how else to change that.

According to the techs on EQ , you have an intel 8018 video card or something like that.It uses an 8 meg video card , the prob is that it used the 8 meg from the memeory and you will have to get a new video card :( sorry

I was able to get into EQ last night after downloading the patch and DirectX 8.1 (thank God for cable modems). I was in OT and there was me and 1 other person. Nobody from my guild was online. I think maybe 5 people were in EQ LOL.

The post below from Oldefrothing (Posted @ Wed, Dec 5th 3:39 AM 2001) is excellent and everyone should follow that advice if you're having trouble.

Luckily, last month I upgraded to a GEForce 3 and upgraded my RAM to 640MB, to top off my 1GHZ Athlon from Alienware. SoL may be the perfect excuse for an upgrade.

thing that sucks for me is that i cannot leave my comp for long my isp has a thing on it that after i am not moving on the web i get a disconnect notice*L* makes long downloads hell gotta watch my screen about every 15 minutes...

well i have dial up...and so far it has taken about an hour i had to restart a few times but i have aout 13 minutes left myself... unless it freezes again..maybe its the time of day being 3 47 here

Well in my part it took about 20 trys to even start to download the patch. When i started though i wizzed through it. it took like less than an hour or so and i have a 56K. I don't understand how people can have a 35hour+ dl???

I think they had problems and long download times because they were attemtping to download at the same times as thousands of others. I believe others of us have stayed up till odd hours for most time zones and were able to download with less people trying due to them giving up and trying later.

It is loading fine for me but what I WANT TO KNOW is how long did this patch take for the rest of creation... I understand i have a fast download but i am curoiuse if it took eveeryone 3 hours to download it all? for thoes fast what is your internet service! I am so Happy i do not have a dial up ( but i am curoiouse on how long it would take a dial up) thanks... happy hunting to you all, and do not pull out the hair!

I patched and logged on easily. I understand everyone was having problems tho, since i was the only person in many zones today. Heres a few tips to help you out.

First download the latest driver for you video card, sony has provided a link to it on their main everquest luclin site.

Second, download directx 8.1.

Third, do all critical updates for windows. Why? I have no clue i just did and think it sure didnt hurt since i patched two computers easily.

Fourth, go to bestbuy and get a 10 dollar stick of 128 megs of ram. Wont hurt your pocketbook too bad.

Fifth, if your on dial up, i think you better wait till thursday, sorry, but to download all those files during this time may be next to impossible without cable or DSL, so try to download if you are on dial up, but if you fail for an hour straight, go do something else, why waste your time.

ok, i'm downloading the drivers now.

i am on a nvidia gforce3, and had already installed directx 8.1 much earlier in the day, so when it gave me the "No 3D device found" crap after finally getting the patch dowloaded.. whew. i almost lost it.

I too got the error message: No 3D device found. I was perplexed for a minute because I had just bought my Radeon 7500 a few hour previous. Then I realized that perhaps I just needed updated drivers for my video card as well as Directx 8.1, it worked =0D. If you have installed Directx 8.1 and you still get the 3D device error, go to the Luclin site and look up your video card to make sure you have the latest drivers for it. Good luck =0D

Hey im on a 56k and i just downloaded the patch in less than a hour. im just stuck now because it says i have no 3d drivers but i just downloaded Directx 8.1 and it took 2 hours. im a little mad but im sure they'll fix it in due time

sorry, but i have to say this:

all of you are uber losers!! obviously not a one of you know the least about computers (most of you idiots own packard bell or the like). and if you've ever seen even one line of code that goes into even the simplest of programs, you'd be uber confused. let me force you to understand, writing code is verrrrry complex and takes time. don't fill your heads with this info (you'll end up forgetting your name), just give it time fools. p.s. get girlfriends man and quit spamming this site!!

You may be the uber loser. have you heard of development software. its a lil program that allows you to design programs via simple toolbars and writes the code and compiles it for you. PROGRAMING IS NOT THAT HARD!

I dont even have SOL I just wanna play I deleted my game and reinstalled it now I have to wait to download the stupid new patch all over again this sucks because I get booted half way through downloading it or whatever there trying to get us to download
