Let me express what many of you are feeling right now: Arrrrrrrrrgh! Let me in! Let me in! I want my Kitty! *breathe* OK. According to Sony, they are aware of the problems and are working on them, including bringing on more patching servers. Why they didn't think of this before, since this is almost identical to what happened at the original release is beyond me, but I'm sure they want you to play their game as much as you want to play it. Feel free to use this forum to try to help each other get into the game or to just console each other while you wait.

OK lets do a little math.

400,000 people paying 9.99 per month.
That's a cool 4 million per month, 48 million a year. Add to that 400,000 people paid for all the versions, that adds another 50 million or so at least.

So for your loyalty and faith, and your 100 million plus, you got fu*cked.

No if's and's or but's about it, that's what happened.

Thanks Verant and Sony. Can I bend over a little more so you can go deeper? Please just ask...

You know... I'm as anxious to play as anyone, but I gotta comment here...

yes, they make a lot of money... but remember to subtract the costs of:

- Salaries for 100+ people at Verant/Sony
- The costs for the servers (each "server" is actually 11 servers, right? so that's around 300 servers for the world "servers" alone)
- Hosting and ISP for all those servers, capable of handling 100,000 people on a *normal* day
- Production, packaging, marketing, etc. of the expansion and the game itself
- a million other things I'm leaving out

That's expensive. In fact, when I really think about it, $50 million a year for something that large doesn't even seem like that much money.

Again... I want to play, don't get me wrong. But come on, one day, even one week... you'll all live. And if you can't... well, you've got bigger problems than your patcher not working.

And, if you really think you're being screwed, may I suggest returning your game and cancelling your subscription? Because, obviously, Verant/Sony don't really have a single reason to listen to you otherwise... they still get your money.

I know about the game being screwed up believe me Ive tried to get in since 1PM CST SO I decied to go to the chat room (EQ) to see what everyone had to say but the Station sight seems slower THAN my granmother and she's dead. Ive tried to find the chat room there but cant. Is that wacked out too? From Vimnix the Imcredulous Why couldn't they just make little adjusts every few hours or so. Dont they have simulaters to test new programs on to see if it'll work right ahead of time? DDDDDAAAAHHHHHH!

You're not alone. I'm getting the same messages, "IO errors" and computer freezing while downloading the patches. I think many people are getting them too due to the bottleneck of people trying to run the new patch server to get into EQ. Guess we'll just have to wait.......and wait......and wait.......and wait. :c(

WELL, SECOND POST TONIGHT ,,,WAS ON ALLAKHAZAM AND THERE WAS A LINK TO DOWNLOAD FILE IF YOU WERE HAVING TRBL WITH PATCH..I OF COURSE WENT TO IT AND DOWNLOADED IT..PROCEEDED TO PUT VARIOUS ICONS INCLUDING OTHER MAIN "EQ" ICONS THAT YOU DBL CLICK ON TO OPEN ..OTHER FILES NOW NEXT TO EQ ICON INCLUDE
EQ_MISSING, EQFECFG.CFG,989NEWS, ETC.. QUITE A FEW OF THEM..NOW THIS LINK IS NOT ON ALLAKHAZAM...I DID GET ON ONCE..I WAS PLACED IN LUCLIN,,MY SCREEN WAS BLACK..NO PICTURE BLACK, MY DIALOGUE BOX WAS SCREWED UP (COULDNT SEE ANYTHING EXCEPT YELLOW PRINT FROM SONY SAYING TO CONTACT TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR ISSUES)..ENUFF IS ENUFF..WILL TRY TOMORROW..I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE I HAVE PROPER FILE DOWNLOADS..I HEARD DISCUSSION THAT THERE WAS A DEFAULT SETTING ISSUE, IF ANYONE ELSE DOWNLOADED THE LINK I DESCRIBED PLEASE POST NOTE..THANKS

Alright all I've gotten on and am playing this very moment well sort of. (I say sorta because I'm typing this while my char sits and meds) all I did was go to the microsoft homepage download directX 8.1 and then installed 8.1 reset my comp. and then started EQ and was on. and let me say its freaking BUTT KICKING!!!!!!!

yah mine is dloading very very slow at this moment also...but was i dont understand is how come i couldnt even play the old version..
but it is odd.. ehehh 400,000 ppl trying to get something almost at once..

To all those idiots who keep threating to move to some other game if Sony\Verant doesn't fix it...Grow UP! Doe you really think they're just sitting around doing nothing? With all the people simulataneously logging in on launch day there was bound to be a few hiccups. If you're going to move then move and stop whining like a baby.

I always thought it was funny how the title for the wonderous new expantion has the same abbriviations as the old saying "well looks like you're SOL (**** outta luck)". Guess Sony was trying to tell us something.

if ur video card is good enough it should. the card and memory is what makes the difference for games like this. the cpu is just traffic control anymore for the computer.

Every time I start to load after about 5min. it says something preformed a error. And then the patch window goes away EVERY TIME! Its completly messed up Sony,Varent WHO EVER FIX IT! I know its not my computer. I WANT TO PLAY NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

QUIT. Go play Camelot. I'm not gonna miss ya. VI is doing all they can. I think they do a hell of a job constanly updating the game to improve it. The only thing I wish they'd do now during this downtime is keep us more informed of what's going on.

I agree they should give us all credit on our accounts for there miss management of there servers and the lack of planing on this patch.
It seams to me that every time they have a major patch this happens!!!

P.S I do understand the problems of this type of TEST I guess you cant call it an implimentation yet can ya ?

This is the lamest shiot i have ever seen; verant is more or less blackmailing us. Either way ya look at it. They have what we want and we will just ***** complain etc and keep doing what they tell us : run the patch. I hate being an EQ addict... or do I? Ah well; another try i suppose.

Hiya everyone the stores near me haven't even gotten the shipment for SoL so I'm having ufn watching TV printing my maps form EQ Atlas and getting my self alll primed to play tomorrow after work when I (hopefully) will get SOL from my local Best Buy...but in the meantime I'll just pick this scab.

I just wish they would'nt say the server will be up shortly and then take 14 hours ( and counting) to get the damn thing going. I sat here all day trying to log in and had they said it will be a while and not shortly i wouldn't have sat here all day! Im sick of this crap and really just think im done with EQ! I think the game depends to much on groups anyway. I have waited for ever to get to a high level so i could do quests and now at 46 it seems no different then at 15, you still need a ton of 50+ players to do quests not even worthy of that level! errrrrr! What to do??
