Let me express what many of you are feeling right now: Arrrrrrrrrgh! Let me in! Let me in! I want my Kitty! *breathe* OK. According to Sony, they are aware of the problems and are working on them, including bringing on more patching servers. Why they didn't think of this before, since this is almost identical to what happened at the original release is beyond me, but I'm sure they want you to play their game as much as you want to play it. Feel free to use this forum to try to help each other get into the game or to just console each other while you wait.

Has anyone had a problem after the patch? I have managed to succesfully download the patch, but unfortunately every time i get past the server select screen it boots me to windows. I do not yet have SOL so it isnt hardware related as i could play fine before the patch. My girlfriend shares a router with me and she doesnt have problems logging in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

i download the patch now , with no problems, but when i press play is says no 3d device located, and boots me out- i got a 3dfx voodoo 3- its working fine- anyone else gets this message?

I had same problem. Upgraded from Directx 8.0 to Directx 8.1 and I could log in fine.

When I get this, does it mean that my ISP is bad or is it simply that I'm not connecting to the EQ servers? In other words, is this my problem that I should solve, or is this Verant's problem that they should solve?

Man, in all my EQ-playing days, I've never gotten all these errors in this frequency. This is just horrific.

It's not a problem on your end. Basically, the patch server cannot handle everybody at once.

For me says local file IO error... anyone know what this means? also i have S3 Savage and it isnt listed on luclin supported cards, does that mean I cant see ANYTHING as in new models, even not on luclin?

Go to Http://www.everquest.sony.com and visit the SoL Support link. There is a download "Everquest.zip". It replaces the Everquest.exe file and everything flows smoothly after that.

I have been back online since about 10pm EST. NO SOL yet but at least I can play. Still running 64mb RAM until FedEx comes tomorrow LOL.

At the rate of how many people bought this expansion, I figure it going to be at least this weekend until the patching will smooth out. Some will get on, and play, while the rest of us wait. I have DSL, and to tell ya, it doesn't matter how fast you are, the patchers are not going to be able to handle the masses. Think about it, at peak times you have on average, 2000 ppl per server. And how many servers? That is a lot of ppl trying to logg on.

I have spent the last 5 hours trying to download and play the game. Ack. What a downer!! Can't they do any expansion right?? Very, very disappointing. Verant/Sony you should be ashamed of yourselves for not testing this sooner instead of coming out with a product that wasn't fully ready.

Well, I got about halfway through the patching process... then I got the fun ole error. Ohwell, I was able to snag the last coppy of SoL from EB in Crossgates mall (A pretty big mall located in upstate NY). But what can you do? Personally I dont mind waiting, but I am pretty excited.

But on te bright side... were all SOL when it comes to playing EQ right now.

Been sitting here for 3 hours trying to log into patcher and keep getting a not connected message or, a peer has forcibly disconnected me :( I'm wondering if everyone is getting these messages as well? Guess i'll keep trying just as everyone else!

when I go to patch my new install, it tells me that my EVERQUEST.EXE file is locked. And wont let me patch past that.
What is up Sony? Is this my problem or Sony Online?

Just remeber to reboot your pc before copying the file accross... otherwise the file is still locked

I really think they remind me of Mr. Magoo. If they had foresight here, they would have added more patch servers and purchased sopme temporary bandwidth. If they even had the decency to keep the user community informed via their non updated website, i think we would all be happier. Just goes to show you what happens when big dreamers with little planning get to work.
