Dark Tool Takes Dive
In a move bound to cause controversy, Mythic Entertainment will no longer permit users to continue using the "Dark Tool of Camelot", Sanya posted on The Camelot Herald today.
The DToC, as it is known by users, was/is a popular tool that lets players do things either not allowed or not easily accomplished with the existing DAoC interface, including XP tracking and checking color combinations for dyes. Unfortunately, it can only do so by hacking into the DAoC client's data stream, which is expressly forbidden by Mythic's EULA.
Saying that the DToC "is causing harm to our game," Sanya asked players to voluntarily stop using the tool until it is changed to satisfy the EULA. She stated that Mythic will be "aggressively pursuing and removing" players who continue using DToC.
If you have something to say about this change, check out the discussions raging on Direct Damage, the DAoC Catacombs, and the VN Boards, or just check out Sanya's post at The Camelot Herald.
