A small post over at Massivley.com announced they received confirmation from Erling Ellingsen of Funcom that he will be announcing first "real" (not just a content patch) expansion for Age of Conan at GamesCom in August. "Yes, we will be revealing the first expansion for Age of Conan at the GamesCom show in August," Massivley quotes Ellingsen as saying. "We have lots of exciting stuff to reveal and Conan players and gamers in general are in for a real treat, but for now, our lips are sealed until then!"

Age of Conan fans will no doubt interpret this news as a testement to the developer's commitment to the game, as it rides the coat tails of AoC's "Update 5," as we recently reported. In-game footage of the new expansion's gameplay and environments is expected to be revealed at the unveiling at GamesCom, which will be held in Cologne, Germany.
