Alganon Roundtable Answers UI Questions

Community Roundtable #17 has been posted on the official Alganon site, and this one focuses on four UI questions that were all submitted by the same forum member.

The entire UI will be customizable, including all fonts and colors. While players won't be able to adjust the core UI, you will be able to use add-ons to modify it. Players will currently have access to four hotbars at launch since the team doesn't want the game to "be a mutli-hotbar click/pressfest."

As far as storage is concerned, you will start with a backpack that has 20 inventory slots and be able to add four more crafted bags, which will reach a maximum size of 22 slots each. Bank, guild and shared storage will also be available.

1. Will the fonts in Alganon be customizable and what options will there be for changing the type and colors of the fonts?

Our entire UI was designed in LUA and will be customizeable. This includes all fonts and colors. As for the options within the game related to the base UI, that will be a bit more limited, and players won't be able to adjust the core UI, but they will be able to plug-in their own once add-in support is completed.

2. When you set the options for a character will you be able to make those settings the default for all characters on that account?

Yes, I believe the default options are global; however regardless of the actual release settings, we will support customization on both a global and per-character basis. We just can't guarantee it will be in the 1.0 release.

3. How many inventory slots will characters have and how will we get more slots? Will there be bank and guild storage? Will there be shared storage between different characters on the same account?

There are bag patterns from 1-250 in tailoring (every ten skill points) so players of any skill will be able to make usable bags. In other words, every skill rank has a bag they can produce. The maximum size bag that can be crafted is 22 slots. Players start with a base backpack which has 20 slots and can add four more crafted bags to expand their inventory. Bank, guild, and shared storage will also be available.

4. How many hotbars will players have? Will players be able to save their hotbar setups to use with multiple characters on the same account?

We plan on support 4 hotbars at launch. We don't want Alganon to be a mutli-hotbar click/pressfest. Our goal is to balance playability without requiring players to set up 3 full hotbars of actions for their class. Granted they can configure anything they want, we've worked hard to balance the methods of interacting with the environment via combat, harvesting, and other "actions".
