Dark Age of Camelot has added player owned housing and player owned vendors. The implementation of them was far superior to any game before that had tried to add these features as a patch. The Great Housingberg Disaster brought Ultima Online to a crippled halt for an entire weekend. DAOC's housing was deployed and many players didn't even realize it was going on. One thing they did RIGHT was what they called a "reverse auction" where the cost of buying a plot of land started at an insane level and slowly dropped each hour until they were only moderately insane in cost.
