Third Podcast Focuses on Aion's Global Appeal
The third official Aion video podcast has been released on IncGamers, and this one gives viewers a look at the NCsoft office in Seoul, Korea, where members of the development team discuss how Aion can appeal to both Eastern and Western gamers. "From the beginning, Aion was designed for a global audience," Lead Designer Yong Chan Jee said. "Aion adopted a global mindset not only in gameplay but also in other components of the game, such as its visuals, which were designed to embrace both East and West."
Lead Artist Hyung Jun Kim said the team took out a lot of characteristics of Asian games to give Aion a global appeal. For example, Asian gamers usually prefer cute and handsome characters, but Aion has bulky heroes. Kevin Kim, the assistant manager of global PR, said Aion has stories and quests, even though Korean games are generally known to be full of grinding.
"It's been live in Korea for almost a year now by the time it launches in the West, and the Western market will really benefit from that because it's had a year of balancing and updates that will be implemented," Associate Producer Lani Blazier said.
