In an MMO gamers' life, there aren't too many things that can match that great feeling of anticipation that always accompanies a new MMO expansion. Winning the lottery is great and all, but compared to a raised level cap!?

There's just no comparison.

All jokes aside, tomorrow marks the day when Aion's Assault on Balaurea (AoB) expansion is set to launch on their Public Test Servers, and thousands of Daevas around the world couldn't possibly be happier. Assault on Balaurea, commonly referred to as Patch 2.0, can also be considered Aion's first significant "content" update, as Patch 1.9 (nicknamed the "Westernization Patch") was more specifically aimed at streamlining the Aion leveling process with little convenient additions, like Arms Fusions and Daily Quests. AoB, on the other hand, offers a new level cap of 55, an astonishing six new instances, a new pet system, two new regions, a new flight system in the form of windstreams and much more. That's a lot of content!

But what about players who can't be bothered to read that massive wall of translated Korean Patch notes for Patch 2.0? How will they know what, exactly, to be excited about? Well, with so much coming, how about we just give you the top three things we're looking forward to at ZAM, complete with some exclusive new screenshots from Aion's Assault on Balaurea! That sounds good!

3. New places to explore, new people to fight!

With the two new regions in the Balaur Homeland, Inggison (Elyos) and Gelkmaros (Asmodian), we're sure hundreds of Daevas around the world will have their passion for PvP re-ignited with the opportunity to wage epic battles across these new and unique regions. If you played Aion in its first two months of release, when thousands of players were collectively making their way to level 50, you may remember all of those fun little skirmishes that took place as marauding groups of rifters were met with zealous defenders who just happened to be in the area. These days, unfortunately, as players become more protective about their accumulated Abyss Points, those roaming battles between attackers and defenders have become more of a rarity.

With Assault on Balaurea, however, since all level 50 players will be leveling to 55 in these new regions, you can definitely expect to see some pretty vicious battles taking place! Not only that, but with Aion's new addition of windstreams, which are essentially wind tunnels that facilitate flight and travel, there will definitely be some World PvP going on somewhere. If you're a real hardcore world PvP enthusiast, be sure to join us on Aion's Public Test Servers, as everyone will be starting out at level one!
