Cryptic Offers Lifetime Subscription Discounts

Cryptic Studios is pretty busy these days. Champions Online is going free-to-play on Jan. 25 and Star Trek Online is gearing up for it's first anniversary on Feb. 2. Cryptic is celebrating these milestones by offering 20% off the lifetime subscriptions for both games for a limited time.

From January 25 at 6 a.m. PST to Feb. 4 at 10 a.m., players can purchase a lifetime subscription for $239.99 for either Star Trek Online or Champions Online. In addition to no longer paying subscription fees, each lifetime sub also includes a handful of other special features, such as in-game items and forum perks.

You may be wondering why Cryptic is offering a discounted lifetime subscription for Champions Online, a game that will soon be free-to-play. Lifetime subscribers will receive all of the benefits of Gold members, including custom archetypes.

F2P is the future. Lifers get *paid* for having lifetime subs.
That's right. You are being paid to play. The C-store gives you approx 400 cryptic pts a month. That's pts for items you would've had to pay to get otherwise.

If you get lifetime early, you get perks and it pays for itself after 16-18 months. Then it starts paying you with cryptic pts and free play+perks.
