The Firiona Vie Server was added in today's patch. This new avenue of adventure will follow a strict set of rules and gameplay that promises to take gamers to new heights by focusing on role-playing in the classic sense. Since its debut in 1999, EverQuest’s action oriented style of role-playing has evolved through launches of different servers with their own unique rule sets. The EverQuest standard servers feature Player versus Environment gameplay and are where most new adventurers find their home. There are also four other special servers that feature various Player Versus Player styles of gameplay. Sullon Zek, Rallos Zek, Vallon Zek, and Tallon Zek allow for voluntary combat amongst players and are recommended for experienced adventurers and groups that enjoy more competitive gameplay. “A role-playing preferred server is something our fans have desired for quite some time,” said Brad McQuaid, Chief Creative Officer & Vice President, Sony Online Entertainment. “After taking a long look at the possible rule sets, we feel we’ve come up with a balance which will immerse the hardcore RPG fan into a truly unique EverQuest setting.” The Firiona Vie server features an entirely new alignment system never before seen in EverQuest enabling the player to choose an alignment when creating their character and to have the ability to switch alignments at a later level. Other features will include reduced shout ranges and limited auction zones. Additional rules will be added as the world evolves.
