What they are doing with the different "breed" Kerrans is similar to what they're doing with the races in Star Wars Galaxies. In SWG, each race can have many different variations on how they look, but will still have the same basic stats. Looks like they're doing the same thing with the new Kerrans.
Hmm...I wonder if they added bards to Kerrans because bards are so underplayed (well, at least original, main character bards are rare--there's a zillion twinked bards now).
And rogue was a great choice for them, I wouldn't be surprised if all Kerrans received sneak as a racial ability.
Checking in from E3 -- New information on Luclin
I just got back from the Everquest booth and am posting to let you know a little more about Luclin. Sony has the actual world running right now and I have to say the the graphics are pretty amazing. Yet one more step up on the scale. I found the zones that I was looking at to be exotic, but not too outlandish. I have to admit that I was expecting rocky moonscapes and barren wastes. Instead, the zones I saw were forests, mountains and such, with the exotic touch being things like blue leaves on the trees.
From what I can see, they have graphics done now for the new Kerran race, Trolls, Humans and of course Gnomes. In addition to the newer look, the classes wear their armor differently. Whereas now a new piece of armor just changes the look of your character without adding anything to it, the new armor graphics actually get added on to your character. Thus, when you put on a bulky chestpiece, you will actually become bulkier and look like a person wearing a chestplate. One nice thing about the new graphical look is that even the old stand by Mobs have a new look to them, giving the world a somewhat different feel. Overall, a nice change.
I did manage to find out a few new things about the new race. It seem that the Kerrans will come in three separate breeds: a tiger, a black panther or a leopard. I am not sure if the classes will differ from breed to breed, but the graphics will certainly be different. As for classes, they would not tell me exactly what new classes would be available to the Kerran race (other than beastlord of course), but I was told that monk would not be one of the though. In addition, I was told that the current plan on getting to Luclin will be to have a NPC wizard at each wizard spire who can be asked to teleport you up to the moon. I don't know if this will be part of a quest, or if you will pay for the service or if it is just a free teleport.
Well that's all for now, but we'll be posting more over the next few days.
