The EverQuest developers are smart. They have an expansion focused on the shards of the God of Fear scattered among the land, so they took it a creative way. The world around these remnants, consequently, is twisted by it. And the local populace is mutated into grotesque, horrifying abominations.

The storyline focuses on who and what has been mutated, and everyone who is in a rush to stop it. It's taking the story behind the expansion and integrating it to anything and everything. And, in this developer diary to celebrate the launch, they talk about how it's really, really cool.
