Take a Peek: Heart of Fear

The final chapter of the Rain of Fear expansion is expected to go live on Tuesday, July 16.

Here is a look at the new zones!

Heart of Fear

It's time. The desperate battles, relentless hunts, and cutthroat dealings of the past year have all been working up to this moment: the final confrontation with Cazic-Thule's terrifying power. The god of fear is dead, but brave adventurers must enter the final reservoir of his lingering power on Norrath, the Heart of Fear, to conquer its evil once and for all. But brave adventurers are not alone in their quest—a myriad of monsters both familiar and new inhabit the Heart of Fear, hoping to steal Cazic-Thule's power for themselves and ascend to become Norrath's new god of fear. Can you stop them all in time? Can you even find them? A betrayer in your midst is eager to teach you the new meaning of fear. Prepare yourself.

That giant shard in the middle of the Shard's Landing crater is looking a little healthier these days, and two emissaries of shadow have appeared at its side...

"Heart of Fear" is broken into three separate zones: The Threshold (the top level, a large mountainous area littered with creatures of fear and Alaran believers); The Rebirth (the middle level, a network of caverns that perhaps serves as the main "gestation" area for creatures of fear); and The Epicenter (the lower level, as its name suggests: The Heart of Fear).

(Screenshots of the new zones can be found below the jump!)

Here are a few screenshots of the new zones:

Would not be hard to convert lot of the old zone "Dead Ends" into a zone that could cover a variety of levels, quest, tradeskill, etc....Like they did way back when "Warrens" was added.............AND .... Don’t tell anyone, let it be discovered. That way some of the old zones would get traffic, and the info on a new zone will get leaked out slowly by players to one another and eventually here. But if SoE were to do this, a new zone every three months, would bring back discovery into the game.

There is no need to make new content for low level toons or those with sub par AA's.
Those of you that think this post is wrong, needs to play in the previous expansions, those ARE the lower level content, those are for those of you who NEED to gain aa, that Need to put forth some effort.

If 14 expansions from Level 1-90 is just not enough, DIAF, you will never be happy with what any make for the game you want to everything handed to you... stop crying about Oh i need the game to be mega nerfed so i can make a new toon and ding max everything and show off to my other crybaby friends....

Some of the content in ROF is blood hard even with a group of toons max level over 50k AA across them, learn your class, show you know your class to others.

Those of you that cry for gear, go farm a little plat, hit up the bazaar so much is going for crap cost its a joke...
Augs research and go get them, dont expect to farm the best down, start lower and work up, use a brain I actually hope that the next exp is even harder than this one, something to make the game a challenge and weed out the whiner newbs that expect the game to be given to them.

EQ is not hard, it does require a brain though, hell if I can do it, anyone can.... (but do they want to is the real question)

Hard to get excited when the only new content is for people max level with a gazillion AA. I doubt I will ever see this. Be alright if a non plvled player could reach endgame in a nominal amount of time.. but generally speaking you can't.
EQ is too easy

The reason they don't make content for low levels zones is clear for anyone who actually plays the game a reasonable amount of time. People level too fast and obsolete them quickly. It is easier than ever to get to max level. With the bonus xp for low AA toons there is nothing hard about level and grinding AAs.

People used to learn to how to play their class as they leveled up and got more AA but now it is so fast you got people who play rangers and zerkers only knowing how to decap and headshot things.

OK any higher end toon got there by grinding through to that level, which IS a lot easy today. Stick to TSS zones until 75 then go do farm in Dragonscale hills, then loping plains then hills of shade, oceangreen hill and on up. it does take time, but believe it of not, the path is easy today than it has ever been. Is it a challenge, maybe, but wouldn't you get bored if it was too easy? just remember, no one GAVE higher level players their toons, THEY EARNED them!

Norrath is replete with unused low level content. I am sure that there are several zones that literally have no players in them for weeks on end.

they don't need new low level zones, what they need is to stop ******* around with hot zones.
they make an experience modifier in zones people hate to kill in, but its not good enough to really draw people there.
if they want to cater to the high end, they should put an express lane in.
it shouldn't take months to level a character up (with reasonable playing time) to the point you are just scratching the high end players alts levels

if they want to make people play in the high end, give us an option
"do you want to experience everquest in all its glory, or have you all ready and want to skip that"
there you got people who will want to play the low end, and you will have another set for people who just want to start out at level 80 with either an alt or whatever, geared in defiant.

or god forbid, they give us 500 aa for every level tier/expansion, oh no, you are level 60, you have to park there for a few days to grind 100-200 aa (depending on class) and you have to do that for every expansion level cap increase. sure, the aa experience modifier is at what, 1000% at the low end, but seriously, its STILL a long boring grind trying to even touch new content from the low end.

or alt the very least, un nerf low end defiant drop rate, i see the intricate and below in bazaar for over 10k any piece...

They had the 51/50 server for a while, it seemed to work out well. They should do something like that again. Maybe an 80/something?

they need to do it for every server, not just one special one.
defiant drops got nerfed to the point that the only way you can get a full set is if you have a high level plat farmer. i was literally into my 70's before i killed a named and it dropped a chest piece that finally replaced the cloth armor (yes i was still wearing cloth)

granted mage and not armor dependant, but still, 1-70~ and not even a full set of cloth armor has dropped. if i was playing a tank or a melee i would have been SO much worse off.

the fact the game is now heavily geared tword 75+ gameplay is just proof that it needs to be rebalanced. and from what i remember at level 86, seeds and hot geared with around 2000 aa, i was barely able to tank (as a tank class) trash mobs in HoT... so you need WAY to many aa's to even be viable than, much less 2 expansions later, this is the kind of grind that makes alts almost impossible to have unless you are either an end game player, or never really want to advance far in the game.

I for one would lo to see Shaman mercenary added. I know it would make my life as a shadow knight, mage, paladin a lot easier. Slows, dots, healing would always be a welcome addition since I tend to solo a lot.

That would be nice maybe even just 1 or 2 zones dedicated to lower levels with some interesting content. I absolutely love old world EQ but after 13 years of playing it myself I would like something new to create another character and adventure in.
