Broken Mirror Beta begins October 21st!

It’s that time! The beta test for The Broken Mirror starts on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. The beta server will be ready for players on Wednesday in the early afternoon.

The Broken Mirror Expansion

Everyone that has pre-ordered The Broken Mirror gets immediate access to the beta server once it is available. Playing The Broken Mirror on the beta server also has perks for your live server accounts! There is more information coming soon about the rewards players will be able to earn by testing expansion content on beta.

Here is some information to help you get started in Beta:

How to provide testing feedback:

  • Use the /bug command in game to open a window and submit information. Include as much information as you can about the problem so that we can reproduce the issue.
  • Out of game, issues can be reported via the Daybreak Issue Tracker.
  • Post additional feedback in The Broken Mirror Beta Forums (Note: You have to be active in the beta to be able to post on these forums)

How to set up a test character for beta:

We want people to be able to test the content with a variety of classes and levels. To beta buff, use this command on a level 1 character: /betabuff

For example:

/betabuff 105 necromancer

How to copy your character over to the Beta server:

  • Log in to your character on your live server and then type the /beta command.
  • Characters flagged for beta will be copied periodically (typically every morning).

To patch and get into the Beta servers:

Other Important Information:

  • Beta installs into a separate folder that takes about the same space as your live game version.
  • The Beta server may not be accessible at all times, as patching occurs when it is necessary.
  • The Beta server is wiped periodically, meaning beta characters may be deleted with or without notice.

We look forward to hearing your feedback about The Broken Mirror and seeing you on the beta server!

Pre-ordering gives you immediate access to The Broken Mirror beta server and Shroud of the Bokon, a special illusion item. If you haven’t already pre-ordered The Broken Mirror, time is running out!

I don't know how this beta will run but the last one was only friendly to gold status members. It was the first Everquest expansion beta i had ever entered and unfortunately the last. You couldn't even really test it properly unless you had a gold status account. Since i guess im one of the scrubs that plays free to play i wasn't even able to equip the best gear and really test out the features. The setup could have been made much simpler as well.

PoK was filled with people asking for help on how to do so many various things. I don't think even a third of those players ever even left that zone. The beta is really not for the casual player or even experienced veteran that only plays a few hours a week. Yes i know you can bring your own characters into it but if you are like myself than you aren't really geared for the next expansion especially with non gold accounts. So i guess that is also why it didn't appeal to me.

Though i guess the experienced Everquest beta expansion tester will have no problem getting in and testing out the content. So i am hoping a lot of them are present for the testings. I don't believe this expansion will be the death of Evequest. Though it may be the last expansion Everquest ever gets. I am still wondering if we are going to get Call of the Forsaken for free once The Broken Mirror comes out. The same way we got Rain of Fear once The Darkened Sea came out.

I've been playing EverQuest since late 2003 and to be honest with everybody that reads this, unless the broken mirror is absolutely spectacular it will probably be the end of my EQ days

Well it won't be "absolutely spectacular", I don't think, just based on the promo materials. I doubt anyone at DBG would seriously claim that level of description. But why does THIS expansion mean the end of your time in EQ? Would you have stuck around if they had NO expansion? Or did you promise yourself if they brought other another Kunark-type expansion, you'd give it another year? Just curious... I've known a lot of friends and acquaintances who say stuff like this and a year later they're asking me for tips since they came back and were rusty.
