Official EQ2 Site Opens

The official Everquest 2 site is now open at this link. It includes a Frequently Asked Questions Section, a statement from John Smedley about the game and quite a few new screenshots. Here are some of the FAQ answers to questions that I have seen asked the most in these forums: When will EQII be released? Our anticipated launch date is 4th Quarter 2003. Can I transfer my characters that I created in the original EQ to EQII? Existing EverQuest characters will not be transferred to EQII. What are the game's requirements? Operating System: Windows 98/2000/ME/XP Processor: 733 mhz RAM: 512 MB Video Card: DirectX 8 compliant. Pixel shader and Vertex shader compatible hardware with 64mb of texture memory (eg: GeForce 3) Sound Card: DirectSound compatible audio hardware John Smedley also assured everyone that SOE does not plan on ignoring Everquest one and will continue to keep it going even after the launch of EQ2.

Hi all,

If current characters on EQ will not be transferred on EQ2, what happens with EQ at the launch date of EQ2...
Is EQ stoped ? or still running for people who don't want to go to EQ2 ?

yo, but lowcost GF4-cards like GF4MX do not support the nice things like Pixel shader and Vertex shader. stay away from GF4-MX-products. get a GF4-4200 or better card or whatever you can get in the next 18 months ;)
Before you Whine

Before anyone starts whining about the system requirements, just think its gonna be over 18 months untill its released which leaves plenty of time to upgrade and by which time those requirements will be nothing compared to some games I expect. The geforce3 prices are plummeting at the moment and with the advent of the low end Geforce 4 cards at an afordable price most will be able to have a system capable of runing the game. Hehe anyway thats enough from me say what ya wanna say , um yes lol
