Category:Skillchain

A skillchain is the effect created when two or more Weapon Skills are performed in sequence, within a short, precise time-frame.

The length of time is a five second window, beginning one second after the animation from the first, and subsequent, weapon skill's animation has finished. Executing a weapon skill too soon, or too late, will result in the skillchain not being performed.

When performed successfully, an additional animation will occur, to represent the skillchain, as a visual cue to remind players that they can now, if they so wish, perform a Magic Burst. After the second weapon skill in a skillchain has been completed, another weapon skill can be performed to continue the chain, up to a total of 6 weapon skills in a row, for a total of 5 skillchains. The damage performed by a skillchain is determined by the level of the skillchain and the damage dealt by the weapon skill which completed the skillchain.

Not all weapon skills can be performed in sequence with each other to form a skillchain, however, the weapon skill's elemental types have to be compatible also.

Elemental types and levels

Level 1 elemental types - These are the most common types associated with weapon skills, and most weapon skills have one or more attributed to them.

Level 2 elemental types - Weapon Skills obtained at higher skill levels have these elemental types.

Level 3 elemental types - Relic Weapons Weapon Skills have these elemental types associated with them automatically.

All skillchains can be Magic Burst with spells of the matching elemental type(s), as the skillchain.
