I was doing the feast of the swords thing, and as my party and i were looking for armor to kill, we saw this thing. so one of our party members told somebody in his linkshell to come, we made alliance witth the person, and she killed it for us. i got the wand :)
I decided to hunt this for fun and lottery spawned it in about 15 mins. Its a great item for mages to switch to when healing, plus it looks pretty sweet. I always have people asking me where I got it. I tried to help my friend spawn the NM, however, and after 3 hours of killing crows we had no NM in sight. Remember folks, full moon helps with drops or something...
This mob can be a real PITA at times. First time I camped it, I got it to pop in under 2 hours. Today it took over 4 hours (and I subbed RNG). Just be diligent and kill all the crows from the outpost to the top of I-5. Happy hunting. BTW, SCH can use this, too.

Ok noob question... Where exactly does the Nunyenunc spawn? I looked on ffxiclopedia and it said it spawns at H-5, H-6, And I-5. I went to those spots on my other hl character and started killing birds. i kept killing them for an hour and a half but no pop. >< If anyone can tell me if those are the real spawn places and i just have bad luck or if i am looking in wrong place that wud help me alot.
I outpost warped to West Saruta to give a friend some items he needed, and I saw some bird and thought I would test out the Flood Ancient Magic spell on it. I used Sleep II on it, but it resisted. I went ahead and casted Flood. One shotted it. Got the wand. I had no idea this was an NM. I didn't even pay attention to the name. Figured it was a normal bird. I didn't notice I got the wand until later that night and was sorting through my inventory. I knew I didn't buy it cause it was Rare/Ex. I realized a little earlier today that the mob I killed was an NM.
According to FFXI Atlas, the NM's pop area is quite far from the outpost. I'm surprised that the NM was flying next to the outpost.
Got this just a while ago, after 2 hours on and off camping. Killed Tom Tit Tat an hour into camping and got fruit punches and found Spiny Spipi (sp) right after I got wand but alas my luck ran out and all I got was silk /cry
just camped this for 60 min today, first NM i ever camped successfully. popped it, killed it as my 16 whm/no sub, dropped wand... not a bad item for a 16 WHM just starting out if i do say so myself. popped north of outpost at H-5 good luck.
I got this wand a while back, also got myself a Yew Wand. I was recently destroying Crawlers at East Sarutabaruta when I realized, this wand was casting more damage than the Yew Wand. (see, resting I have a macro to switch to Pilgrim's Wand and when I get up switch back to Yew Wand to do some damage or healing spells)
I had never even heard of this guy b4. Was asked one day to /tell if I see him...thought "yeah right, I kick it's @$$!" Well, couple weeks go by and I am not on much. In fact, when I do come back I can't even recall what it was I was doing in Saruta. Anyhow, I go around killing yags and crawlers, stealing pickaxes off diggers when all a sudden I see this weird name I don't recognize and it isn't green so it is definitely an NM of some sort. Thinking it is part of a moogle event or something I run over, kill it in 3 hits (thf 39 / rng 15) and walk away with a staff I hadn't heard of b4. If only I could get so lucky on spiny spipi!
He was saying its to bad the dark staff was a staff and a 2 handed weapon, because with the dark staffs MP boost while resting and this clubs MP while resting it would be fun to dual wield the dark staff with the club this NM drops ^^
I went to h-5, killed a carrion crow, and went to tahrongi to check the fasting ring nm. When I got back I killed another crow and a couple crawlers. I turned around and there he was on the south side of the path. I love this wand, I'm using it to solo whm/war from 10-15 (I do NOT want to go to the dunes as a galka whm) and it's going beutifully. My downtime drops dramaticly.
found him flying around @ h-6 in the top center around 2:40 vanadiel time on a lightsday killed him easily as a 29 whm/rdm and got the drop he only hit me for 1 hp and 3 on crits with shell and protect 2 up, he missed most of his swings though
After looting a Gelong Staff and realizing it is +4 HP while healing not MP, I looked up the Pilgrims Wand. Came out as a 16 nin / 8 ranger and started whacking Crawlers and Crows. After about 2 hours, I had to chase my daughter back to bed, took a last look at wide scan and... There he was (H-5)! Had I left, I might have missed it. It barely touched me and only took a couple minutes to kill. The only drop was the Pilgrims wand. 1/1. Maybe it is a 100% drop...
I was leveling my BST in Saruta. Had just dinged 11 and was getting a buffer when I engaged a bird. I wasn't paying attention to the name but when I hit it twice for 20 damage each and its HP didn't move I was like uhhhh... then it started hitting me for 14 damage. I was like uh-oh and charmed a nearby crawler and threw it at it, ran away to cure myself. Crawler died in 3 hits. Grabbed another crawler and threw it at it and used Familiar. That crawler didn't last much longer than the first. >< I fought bravely to the end, got it to about 4/5, died horribly. Pissed, I HP'd to Jeuno, changed to WHM and did Tele-Vahzl and outposted back to Windy. Went back and it was still unclaimed. Didn't care what piddly item it dropped, I just wanted vengeance. Nobody makes me bleed my own blood! Now I have a Pilgram Wand. Dunno if I should keep it or not ><. Useful for leveling my subs and capped fights I suppose. Revenge is a dish best served with Banish 3 and Holy, screaming hysterically, "You like that *****?!"
