This guide is to help you level your first aid as efficiently as possible. Being that first aid is fairly easy to level as professions go, this guide should make it even easier for you. It will also provide you with a general idea of how much cloth you will need to get your skill up. However, keep in mind that the amounts listed here are primarily guidelines and the number of cloth pieces you use will probably vary somewhat.
Contents [hide] |
The first step is to find your nearest first aid trainer and start it up. Once this is done, you are ready to collect/farm all that cloth you'll need to create bandages (linen bandage is the very first recipe you will get from your trainer). A list of humanoids that have a good percentage of cloth drops is available in the database as well. If you don't want to farm lower level mobs or spend endless hours killing greens for cloth drops, you can just buy it at the auction house but you are at the mercy of the current AH price ranges, which can be quite steep at times.
Item | # Crafted | Components | Acquire Skill | # of Skill Ups Possible |
---|---|---|---|---|
Linen Bandage | | 55 Linen Cloth | | |
Heavy Linen Bandage | | 130 Linen Cloth | | |
Wool Bandage | | 50 Wool Cloth | | |
Heavy Wool Bandage | | 110 Wool Cloth | | |
Silk Bandage | | 45 Silk Cloth | | |
Heavy Silk Bandage | | 80 Silk Cloth | | |
Mageweave Bandage | | 40 Mageweave Cloth | | |
Heavy Mageweave Bandage | | 80 Mageweave Cloth | | |
Runecloth Bandage | | 35 Runecloth | | |
Heavy Runecloth Bandage | | 140 Runecloth | | |
Netherweave Bandage | | 55 Netherweave Cloth | | |
Heavy Netherweave Bandage | | 30 Netherweave Cloth | | |
Frostweave Bandage | 1x Frostweave Cloth | | | |
Heavy Frostweave Bandage | 2x Frostweave Cloth | | | |
In the following table you will find a list of bandages and levels at which they turn green (or "trivial"). However, in some instances, bandages will need to continue to be created while they are "green", such as Netherweave and, with the new expansion, Frostweave, because the next skill isn't obtainable when the item initially becomes trivial.
Item | Trivial Level | Item | Trivial Level |
---|---|---|---|
Linen Bandage | | Heavy Linen Bandage | |
Wool Bandage | | Heavy Wool Bandage | |
Silk Bandage | | Heavy Silk Bandage | |
Mageweave Bandage | | Heavy Mageweave Bandage | |
Runecloth Bandage | | Heavy Runecloth Bandage | |
Netherweave Bandage | | Heavy Netherweave Bandage | |
Frostweave Bandage | | Heavy Frostweave Bandage | |
After you get to skill level of 150, your faction's first aid trainers will no longer teach you new first aid recipes - you'll need to travel to a specific vendor or location (such as Hammerfall in Arathi) to get your next set of skills.
If you are Alliance you will need to travel to Stromgarde (Arathi Highlands) and purchase Expert First Aid - Under Wraps from Deneb Walker. Right click this book in order to level your first aid to 225. While you're there, it's probably also a good idea to buy Manual: Heavy Silk Bandage and Manual: Mageweave Bandage so that you don't have to go running all over the globe when you're ready to learn these formulas.
If you are Horde you will need to travel to Brackenwall Village (Dustwallow Marsh) and purchase Expert First Aid - Under Wraps from Balai Lok'Wein. Once you've right clicked the book and learn the skill you will be able to level your first aid up to 225. It's also a good idea to buy Manual: Heavy Silk Bandage and Manual: Mageweave Bandage so that you have both when you are able to learn these recipes.
After reaching a skill of 225 you have to complete a first aid quest in order to move your skill to 300. And, in order to obtain the quest you must have your first aid skill at 225 and your character has to be at least 35.
Alliance players have to travel to Ironforge and obtain the quest Alliance Trauma from Nissa Firestone, the first aid trainer in Ironforge. Nissa can be found in the Great Forge in the upstairs of the Ironforge Physician.
Once you have the quest, travel to Theramore (in Dustwallow Marsh) and speak with Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen. Turn in the quest Alliance Trauma and accept Triage. To successfully complete this quest you need to heal 15 patients before 6 other patients die. VanHowzen will give you the bandages you will need to use on the patients. Best way to do it is to drag the bandages to one of your action bars so you can quickly heal the injured soldiers.
Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen will also train you in Heavy Mageweave Bandage, Runecloth Bandage, and Heavy Runecloth Bandage. Just pop in and train these when you reach the appropriate skill level.
Horde players must travel to Orgrimmar and obtain Horde Trauma from Arnok, the first aid trainer in Orgimmar. Arnok is located in the Valley of Spirits.
Once you have received the quest you must then travel to Hammerfall (Arathi Highlands) to speak with Doctor Gregory Victor. Once you are there turn in "Horde Trauma" and accept "Triage". Once you accept this quest the "event" will start so be prepared. The quest is exactly the same as the Alliance version - in this case it will be Victor giving you the bandages you will need to use on the patients though. Best way to do it is to drag the bandages to one of your action bars so you can quickly heal the injured soldiers.
Victor will also train you in Heavy Mageweave Bandage, Runecloth Bandage, and Heavy Runecloth Bandage. Just pop in and train these when you reach the appropriate skill level.
To get your first aid skill level past 300 you must purchase Master First Aid-Doctor in the House from a vendor. This vendor will also have the formulas for Netherweave Bandage and Heavy Netherweave Bandage.
If you are Alliance you may purchase the necessary formulas from Burko in the Temple of Telhamat (Hellfire Peninsula).
If you are Horde you may purchase the necessary formulas from Aresella in Falcon Watch (Hellfire Peninsula).
With Wrath of the Lich King, you can now increase your First Aid skill to 450 and learn 2 news bandages. Unlocking the skill is quite easy, you only need to have your First Aid at 350 or higher and find one of the many First Aid Trainer in Northrend, they will make a Grand Master out of you and you'll be uncapped.
At 350 skill, the Northrend Trainer can also teach you how to create Frostweave Bandages, which use the new cloth type that you can found in Northrend.
In order to get First Aid 450, you will need the last Bandage - The Heavy Frostweave Bandages. In order to learn this one, your first aid skill must be at 400 and you have to obtain the Manual: Heavy Frostweave Bandage. This an item that can drop from several mob in Northrend. Good Hunting.
