Planarite Farming (Rift)

Planarite: They have it — you want it! Patch 1.2 introduced "Slivers", which require at least one player in the raid to have Quantum Sight/Omen Sight, which must be purchased for 25,000 Planarite. It's not only the new slivers that you'll want Planarite for, though. There are Planar Vendors which sell goods in exchange for these little shinies.

This guide will give some overviews of basic solo farming strategies, as well as a general layout-plan to farming your 25,000 Planarite.

Note that while this guide is written with level 50 solo farming areas in mind, the same principles can apply to just about any level!

Obtaining Planarite

There are many ways in which a player can earn planarite. Some are easier and quicker, but reward less; some longer and more difficult, and reward more. As this guide is geared towards solo farming, we'll be going over the quick and efficient methods. You'll be mostly wandering fairly long distances, so be sure the following is in order:

  • Soul Vitality
  • Bag Space
  • Drinks & Potions
  • Good Gear
  • Money for Healer NPC
  • Noble Steed

Once you have all these squared away, head over to Stillmoor.

Rifts

Rifts are going to be your biggest earners overall. Look for minor rifts which are about equal to your level. The goal here is to get to the 4th (bonus) stage, and let the timer expire. Even on a minor rift, you will not be able to solo the stage 5 boss, but will still receive the rift loot for finishing the 4th. You'll still get a few good infusions of planarite through the various stages. You also have a chance that the rift's target monsters will directly drop either planarite or items which can grant extra planarite such as Eternal Puresource.

Rifts may give you more planarite, but it's not always so much more to justify the extra time it takes to get to stage 5. Oftentimes you wont get planarite from monsters or the purestones. For that reason, I prefer Footholds. Especially if you're trying to quickly farm your 25,000.

Footholds

Footholds are my personal preference for farming. The idea behind effecient, quick solo farming is to run from place to place, racking up as many planarite as you can. Destroying level 50 Footholds may only net you about 50-65 planarite a piece, but it'll be very fast.

Check your map and start looking for footholds. When you get to one, don't even bother with the monsters supporting it. With decent gear, you should be able to rush the idol, destroy it, and run off. For about 10 seconds of work, you'll have earned yourself upwards of 65 planarite, and can quickly move onto the next.

Moving between the many footholds that pop up, while throwing in the occasional rift can earn you a very decent amount of planarite. However, with the right circumstances, Invasions can also be very good farming.

Invasions

Invasions are where it can get really fun (and profitable, with a little luck).

I like to camp invasions at Zareph's Return or Thalin Tor. I like these areas because their wardstones are located such that any invading force must cross paths with a large number of NPCs which will help fight them off.

The idea here is to let the invading monsters a group of NPCs. Once they have, start your assault on the lead monster. Finish it off quickly to trigger a win (for that invading force), heal up quickly and prepare for the next wave. I've done this at Zareph's Return a few times and within about 20-25 minutes I had racked up 900 planarite solo (this won't always be the case). Not a bad haul!

Sourcestone Exchange

Over the course of playing and participating in Invasions, you will occasionally earn a rare currency known as Sourceshards. The various tiers of shards come from the various regions of the game.

If you find you have extra shards from the lower level zones, you are able to trade them in for Planarite. Visit the respective zone's Rare Planar Goods Vendors to exchange your lower tier sourcestones for planarite.

You'll probably want to be sure that you do spend these at the appropriate levels. However if you don't, or have extra, this is a good way to make use of them.

Earning your 25,000

This may seem pretty daunting for someone who plans to solo their way to 25k planarite. It won't happen overnight, solo or not! However, if you put in a few good, solid hours every day, you should be able to solo your way to 25k in 8-9 days. This is assuming roughly 3 hours a day.

As I touched on previously, start in Stillmoor. Run around to every Foothold you come across, quickly destroying the idol and moving on to the next. Toss in the occasional Rift when Footholds are scarce, getting it to stage 4 and letting the timer run out. Note: For consideration of other players, only let the timer run out if there aren't other players around you who can and would like to kill the stage 5 boss. Make sure you get in on invasions whenever they happen -- they are a good source of planarite.

For more hardcore grinders, you'll be able to cut this down to around 4-5 days. More obviously for the average player who either doesn't have the time or patience to grind out about 3 hours daily. Either way you do it though, 25k is easily obtainable. Just very time consuming for the solo player!
