Need an Invite?

With the old Trials gone, the Recruit-a-Friend program is the only way to get trial gameplay on the Live servers. If you need an invite, post in this thread on the official forums.

The Program

The EverQuest II Recruit-A-Friend program is a unique promotion that rewards you with free gameplay time (to be added to the end of your then-current subscription) and exclusive in-game items for each new player you bring into the game who becomes an active subscriber of EQII. If you have ever held a paid EQII subscription that is currently in good standing, whether active or inactive, you can take advantage of this amazing opportunity to have fun playing with your friends and earn exciting rewards for it.

EverQuest II players can invite friends for a free 14-day trial of all EQII content through Rise of Kunark. If they group with that friend during the trial they receive experience bonuses. If their friend converts their trial to a subscription, there are more goodies for the veteran player:

There is no projected end date for the program. [1]

Program Changes Feb 2011

A couple of limitations have been added to the recruit-a-friend bonus to prevent it from being a solo leveling tool. In order to get the recruit-a-friend experience bonus:

  • You and your recruited friend must be relatively close in adventure levels. If you normally wouldn't be able to group effectively because of your level difference, you probably won't get the recruit-a-friend bonus.
  • If you are too high level to group with your friend, you can still get the bonus by mentoring down to an appropriate level and playing together.
  • If you're not in an instance, you and your recruited friend must be in the same area. You won't get the recruit-a-friend bonus if you are not close enough to be playing together.

These changes bring the bonus in line with its goals – encouraging an established player to help out a friend who is new to the game, and rewarding this with a nice experience boost. [1]

Important!

To make sure you get your bonuses:

  • Make sure that your friend (or you for a second account) uses the link in the RAF email. This is important cause if you get the trial any other way it won't connect and give you the goodies. This can probably be rectified by dropping CS a line and getting the accounts relinked.
  • If it's just a matter of getting the in-game goodies, the legalese states that it can take up to one billing cycle for things to be delivered. The reason for this is billing types. If you're using a debit or credit card, I recommend keeping an eye on your account, then give it at least 48 hours from when it shows on your statement. If after that you still haven't been flagged for the in-game goodies and option number one was good, then drop CS a line and they'll look into it. [2]

If you haven't gotten your bonuses

If you haven't received your in-game promotional rewards, please log in to your account management tool via www.station.sony.com and click the "recruit a friend."

If it says "Invitation sent" and you are absolutely sure that your friend created an account and subscribed, then the incorrect link was used.

Please review the following article that exactly describes the step-by-step process to correctly link up both accounts: Step-By-Step Instructions.

Once the account are linked you will see in your "recruit a friend" section of the account management tool on station.sony.com "Trying Game" or when they decided to subscribe right away on their new account "You have been rewarded."

Please have the prospect contact customer service for a refund of the subscription on the trial account that wasn't linked up. [3]
