EQOA Second Addition Announced

Here's a big announcement I just got from Sony. For clarification, this is not an expansion in the same sense of the Everquest PC expansions. The game will come on a disk that includes everything from the original game plus all of the new features of the second edition. Thus, Frontiers is actually a new version of the game rather than just an expansion of the existing version. Players using either version will still be able to interact, but you will need the new version to access the new zones, play the new race and class and get the new features. ------- Sony Online Entertainment Inc. (SOE), a worldwide leader in massively multiplayer online gaming, announced today that it is developing EverQuest® Online Adventures: Frontiers(tm), the second edition of the groundbreaking massively multiplayer online role-playing game, EverQuest Online Adventures. EverQuest Online Adventures: Frontiers expands the rich, vibrant fantasy world of Norrath with uncharted territories to explore, new items and spells to acquire, fierce creatures to battle, and a new playable race, the Ogres. Frontiers also offers innovative features such as an in-game tutorial, controller instructions and in-game customer service to make online gaming simple and easy for the new user. Developed exclusively for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, EverQuest Online Adventures: Frontiers is scheduled to ship to retail stores this fall. "With more than 500,000 of the PlayStation 2 system's Network Adaptors installed in U.S. homes, Sony Online Entertainment is committed to serving this growing online audience," said Michael Lustenberger, director of product marketing, Sony Online Entertainment. "With Frontiers we're making several changes to improve the game for new players while adding a huge amount of new content to keep current EverQuest Online Adventures players involved in the game." EverQuest Online Adventures: Frontiers uses the Network Adaptor for the PlayStation 2 to connect seamlessly to the Internet via modem or broadband, directing players to dedicated EverQuest Online Adventures servers. Gamers simply insert the disc and the adventures of Tunaria are just a few button pushes away. About EverQuest Online Adventures: Frontiers With intricate character development, continuous player interaction and a strong sense of community, EverQuest Online Adventures: Frontiers brings PlayStation 2 gamers into a vast online world filled with thousands of other players. The second edition will add more than 162 square miles of uncharted territories to explore, from the beautiful red rock canyons of Odus to the treacherous lava streams in Lavastorm. Frontiers also adds graphically enhanced player models and armor, allowing for greater character customization than ever before. EverQuest Online Adventures: Frontiers also features:
  • Extensive replay value
  • Redesigned, highly-detailed player character models, armor and "pets"
  • New class mastery system unlocks the hidden potential of player characters with unparalleled character customization
  • New playable race, the Ogre. These massive being can be both brutal warriors and can wield the most powerful magic
  • New cast of visually stunning non-playable characters to battle such as the Negas, Faun and Couatl
  • Challenging new quests to conquer
  • Hundreds of new items to acquire, barter, trade and sell
  • Streaming in-game music brings ambience to the adventure
  • Expanded content for high-level characters
  • 3 new cities, 24 gigantic dungeons and a new continent bring the size of the game world to a gigantic 500 virtual square miles
  • About EverQuest Online Adventures EverQuest Online Adventures is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG), which allows PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system owners to experience an open-ended, persistent virtual world filled with thousands of other players. Updates for April 30th

    Game Updates For April 30th

Bordael gave us word about why the server maintenence was taken so long. Spells: Updated the Level 23 Ranger Spell Nimble Grace to affect Level 17 and up characters. Quests: Updated drop rates of items involved in the 23 side quests. Changed reward steps for some level 23 side quests. You can now speak to Drew Hurkert to receive your reward. This can be done any time after completing a reward step, without interfering with any other quests. This should make obtaining your rewards less confusing. NPCs: Creatures and NPCs in the Jethro's Pike Region had factions and respawn times updated.

    Damage Shield Fixed

This is a good thing, I noticed they weren't working all the time. Anyways, here the official message from Bordael. April 29, 2003 Updated Damage Shield effects to properly activate each time the recipient of the Damage Shield is struck.
