TERABow's Second Archer Q&A

Today TERABow, an Archer-based TERA fansite, published their second Archer Q&A! This time, Scapes answered their questions.

The first Archer Q&A can be found HERE.

I was pretty happy with the Q&A's, although a few of the questions asked seemed a little too hopeful. There were however some excellent quesitons, and decent answers. Hopefully as TERA draws closer we can mass more information about Archer and other classes as well!

"Geno on TeraFans - if i fire the multi-shot (the one where u select 4 targets for the arrows) is it possible to set all the arrows to hit one target? or is there a limit to one at a time?

No, the multiple-target skill you describe cannot be stacked on a single target."

In-depth about Rift: Planes of Telara - Part 2!

Hi and welcome back to ZAM's interview with Scott Hartsman about Rift: Planes of Telara! In Part Two, we talked about Rift's unique class system, as well as how players will grow in Rift (even in endgame!), as well as the economy of Rift and just how far your money, both in-game and out, can get you!

You can read part one over here before you get on to reading part two!

In-depth about Rift: Planes of Telara with Trion

Every now and then, when we talk to MMO development companies about some of the new things they're doing, we get that odd little sensation of rightness. That is, sometimes you hear of the ideas that are going into new MMORPGs, and boy does it make you want to play the game! This is definitely true of Rift: Planes of Telara (Rift), an incredibly ambitious (from a graphical and game play perspective) MMORPG currently being developed by Trion Worlds.

For those of you who don't know, Rift originally debuted at E3 2009 under the title "Heroes of Telara," but it has since changed that name to "Rift: Planes of Telara" to better reflect the theme of the game. In Rift, the two factions, the Guardians and the Defiant, are fighting a fierce war against invading planes of existence, known as "Rifts," which have suddenly begun to appear on Telara, leaking all sorts of baddies onto the planet. In addition to this, the Guardians and the Defiant are also fighting a particularly fierce civil war - with the Guardians staying loyal to their silent Gods, while the Defiant seek to defend Telara by their own strength alone. As an MMORPG, Rift has some incredibly ambitious plans, so whether you're interested in their stunning next-gen graphics, or their innovative "soul" class system, or even their unique take on the MMORPG genre as a whole, this is definitely one game you should be keeping an eye on.

We decided to catch up with Scott Hartsman, Creative Director of Trion, to get every little bit of new info on Rift that we could possibly get! In Part One, we talk with Scott about PvP in Rift, what really makes Rift a "social MMO," and we get a fresh perspective on the MMO genre as a whole. Tomorrow, in Part Two, we talk about Rift's innovative 'soul' system and how players will grow into heroes in Rift: Planes of Telara.

League of Legends "Season One" Q&A With Riot Games

League of Legends received its first major content update last week, dubbed "Season One," introducing some  long-awaited gameplay modes, new artwork, a revamped website and a new Champion. The most popular features of Season One are the new competitive gameplay modes; ranked games and "draft mode," both of which allow players to compete for prizes totaling more than $100,000 by the season's end. Players will then have the chance to qualify for the grand finals by competing in a circuit of local, online, and global events, according to developer Riot Games' official Season One announcement page.

This week ZAM interviews Marc Merrill, co-founder and president of Riot Games, to find out more about League of Legends' first major content update. In the following Q&A, we ask Merrill about the overall structure of Season One and learn about the new, competitive gameplay modes. Merrill explains the differences between "normal" and "ranked ladder" modes, and describes the fan-requested "live draft" mode in more detail. We also learn about the possible format of future seasons (will they follow the same model as Season One?) and find out what's included in the $100,000 prize package for future winners in the months to come. Read our full interview with Merrill after the jump, and check out ZAM's League of Legends portal site for more news and game information!

World of TERA interviews BrotherMagneto

Yet another interview of an En Masse employee! Some new info, not that much though. Hopefully upcoming interviews will be a little more revealing!

Quite a few vague answers in this one, I would have personally liked to see more specific, detailed answers...oh well.

"Q: Previously, you answered a question about the declaration system and whether or not it would apply to PVP servers. The answer was it will be examined in the FGTs and upcoming betas. A lot of forum users who support full PVP servers are worried about this declaration system limiting them. Do you have any more information on whether or not the declaration system is going to be applied on PVP servers?

A: The declaration system is still under development. I can’t share anything new at this time, because we haven’t finalized it yet. Sorry!

Q: What kind of risks / rewards are going to be associated with PVP?

A: Political power, fame, money, treasures, land. All the good things in life."

MMO Base Interviews Community Director Jason Mical

Today, Scapes over at the official TERA website posted about MMO Base's interview with Jason Mical, the TERA Community Director.

The interview is available both in Croatian and English, and its quite a nifty little interview! Some new information, along with some further explanation on existing topics.

I was happy to see a little more information about both PvE and PvP, along with some information on server types. I am however a little concerned with the wording used in regards to PvE servers, and hope for more clarification on the matter of PvE Servers soon, for those that plan to roll on those servers.

MMO Base: Will TERA offer players PVP arenas or will PVP be mostly done in an open world?

Jason: All servers will have battlegrounds and duels. There will be open-world PvP servers, and PvE servers where PvP is restricted to the battlegrounds and duelling areas.

MMO Base: How will the endgame rewards for PVP and PVE in TERA work? Will there be unique epic sets for all classes?

Jason: The endgame rewards will include a lot of loot of course, but both PvP and PvE players will find themselves embroiled in the politics of the Valkyon Federation at higher levels. There will be political rewards for the ambitious and well-connected, including an unprecedented way to shape the history of the server.

BSG Online: In-Depth Q&A With Bigpoint Games

Gamers caught their first glimpse of the upcoming Battlestar Galactica Online (BSG Online) earlier this month at E3, when developer Bigpoint Games released the MMO's first teaser trailer and showcased some early, in-game footage. Inspired by the SyFy Channel's "re-imagined" Battlestar Galactica TV series from producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, Bigpoint is developing the free-to-play, browser-based MMO with the Unity game engine. Since ZAM didn't have time to talk about BSG Online with the developers at E3, we decided to pursue a more comprehensive Q&A instead. This week we talk to Bigpoint Games CTO Jan Wergin from the company's headquarters in Germany, where it reigns supreme as the country's largest games portal (and one of the top three in the world).

In this interview we get a heap of detailed answers about the upcoming Battlestar Galactica MMO from Wergin, who says the free-to-play, browser based game couldn't be in better hands. Wergin confirms that series producers Moore and Eick were both involved in the MMO's development, and explains why some of the most cynical fans were impressed with Bigpoint's use of the Unity game engine. We learn more about the MMO's third-person "avatar mode" and the full range of PvP and PvE gameplay available for both "Human" and "Cylon" factions. Finally, Wergin describes BSG Online's micro-transaction revenue model (if you can buy it, you can earn it for free) and drops a few hints about more details that might be announced next month at Comic Con in San Diego. If you're a fan of Battlestar Galactica, this is one interview you don't want to miss; check out ZAM's full Q&A after the jump!

World of Tanks Interview: Part 1

World of Tanks! Doesn't that sound like a world you'd love to live in? We sat down with Mike Zhivets, technical director for World of Tanks, and one of the godsends responsible for bringing 500 real world tanks to you in intense PvP multiplayer combat. Take over a Risk-like map with your guild in Clan Wars mode and build a garage full of Sherman tanks that would make General Patton misty eyed. Lock and Load!

STO "Season Two" Preview Q&A With Craig Zinkievich

Last time we chatted with Star Trek Online executive producer Craig Zinkievich, he and Cryptic Studios commemorated the MMO's three-month milestone with "Season One," its first major content update. As promised, the developers "addressed players' concerns" and delivered "new, fresh content in the players' hands," as Zinkievich described it, in our "Season One and Beyond" interview.

The three-month release cycle continues in July with "Season Two," offering more new content and gameplay refinement. In our latest interview with Zinkievich, we talk about some of the significant features and changes that Cryptic has added throughout the past few months, like the Memory Alpha revamp and the new "Accolade System." We also get details about upcoming content in July's "Season Two," which introduces popularly-requested exploration, diplomacy and anthropology-themed missions via the new "Federation Diplomatic Corps." Zinkievich tells us about the future of ship interiors, mini-games like "Dabo" and more. Read the full interview after the jump!

Part 2 of ZAM's Exclusive Look at TERA's Berserker
