Wired Talks to Tabula Rasa
Tabula Rasa lets players create clones of their characters whenever they like, allowing them to venture off into different paths of character development without having to level up time and again. You couldn't, however, redistribute your attribute points--if you'd assigned all of them to your Body attribute, only to discover that you'd rather have a Mind-heavy character, you were stuck.
With version 1.4, however, you can reassign them as you see fit; if you want to make a tank Thrax hybrid, you'd reassign the majority of your points to the Body attribute. This wasn't done just to make the new hybrids more exciting, but also to address the design team's dissatisfaction with the game's previous attribute system.
"Our attribute system wasn't exactly what we originally envisioned," says Sage, who explains that how players assigned attribute points didn't have as much impact on their game world as the team had hoped. "The way it was supposed to work was you were supposed to become more of an individual based on how you leveled up, but that didn't really happen."
