In the Sunderock Springs: Has ~6.25 million hitpoints; summons; spawns adds called Shadow in the Mist during the encounter. Drops 2 items from its loot table.

I was running through and saw this guy up and figured what the heck (102 rogue, nothing but 100 baz gear). Just turned on Knifeplay and started going to work whittling him down, eventually looking down to see my merc was no longer healing me or himself... I disced and destroyed him but he got me down to like 50% health. My merc might have just been bugged but keep this in mind if you decide to whack him.
I just saw it up and decided to see if I could solo him. I did, but those HP took me 20 minutes to kill it.
It changes form off and on during the fight, back and forth between Mistwalker and Mistwalker's Mistform. It alternatively spawned an add called "Boiling Steam" or 4 adds called "Shadow in the Mist."
Trying to take him down today, I can tell you right off that he does summon.. good bit of information to know.. He also has another ability beyond Boiling Steam, it doesn't seem to be a formal spell, but he summons Shadow in the Mist x4 occasionally, they last about 6 seconds, maybe a little longer, then despawn. But in those seconds they can do some nasty damage.
Killed it with 85 Monk 85 Rogue 85 Cleric on 12-29-2008 took 43min monk is SoD/SoF raid geared rogue was SoF raid geared cleric was SoF group geared was a fun fight!!!
AE rampages and his shadows spawn every 60 seconds, if you want to time it as a paladin i spam heal the main tank right before/when the shadows spawn, and that tends to be good aggro.
as for the AE i'm not sure if it is hate list or what, but it does not seem to hit everyone. it seems to be pretty short range too, but it did not even seem to hit everyone who was directly next to mistwalker.. I'm guessing it's hate list based?
Looking at the loot he drops, he should be a "joke" for well-geared toons, as long as they can reasonably deal with the adds. Even our CoA casual guild wouldn't bother with this guy, as his gear would rot.
Not all raid MOBs are top tier guild targets. Hooray to SoE for making raid targets for lighter and more casual guilds to get, with focus items they can use!
I have been drooling over this mob from the first time I laid eyes on it. Just took the time to look up the info on Mistwalker today, and see some good info, but seems to be a little incomplete. How many ppl (specifically tanks and healer types) were in successful raids against him? Just was wondering if should be a fairly balanced healer ( clerics, druids and shamans) to tank ratio, with a nice amount of ranged fighters.
what is the gear lvl needed for this mob... i will be hosting some open raids into TSS and wanted to know what gear lvl tanks i needed... qvic? DoDh.. any info would help...
At the time I ran into him, I was at 3kish ac. Max hit was around 2200. So just get someone that can survive the ae, and not get one-rounded on a max flurriy, and then more ac the better. Assuming worst case scenerio, assuming 3kac tank, 5k dd, quad 2200 , that would need more than 13,800hp to not get one-rounded. More than that is nice. But, more ac and it gets easier. Might need to get a defensive tank if you can only find hp tanks instead of ac ones.

Imminent Disaster downed this mob first attempt on Quellious with 45 peeps in raid. Tried two strats. First was a zerg strategy, second was range.
Zerg wasn't working too well, aborted after a short bit, zoned out as zone line was very close, re-engaged, went with a quasi-range strat. Had warriors in melee range for main mob and to pick-up adds on spawn, everyone else range.
Long fight, adds would sometimes pwn someone when they spawned, sometimes a tank, sometimes tank plus the person trying to keep him up.
Adds up long enough to kill one or two peeps then despawn. Wash rinse repeat. Just got the dead back in the fight as soon as possible.
This guy actually spawns adds (Shadow in the Mist and Boiling Steam) and changes to "Mistwalker's Mist Form." Boiling Steam and Mistwalker himself (as well as his Mist Form) rampage.
Mistwalker himself only hit our tank for 1300 (flurries), but the Shadow in the Mist hit for 2300 and flurry... AND there were 4-5 of them up at once. The Boiling Steams were pansies, not sure if they had any procs though.
We were easily able to keep the tank up with just 2 clerics (even with the shadows beating on him), but anybody else who got in melee range pretty much just died (primarily from the shadows ramp and changing targets).
