Mining (Rift Profession)

- Harvesting Mineral nodes can yield ore and gem containers.
- Mining nodes are found almost exclusively on or near rocks. This can be a cliff face, a small rock on the ground, or a large boulder.
- No special tools are required to mine.
- Use the Forge to smelt Ore into Bars.
Beginning with patch 1.6, Miners can mine ore from the corpses of Earth Elementals, Orelings, Golems, Constructs and other metal-based creatures. The ore thus mined will be equivalent level to the ore nodes available in that zone.
This actually provides a marvelous way to level up your skill, as you cannot always know exactly where to find a resource node, but you can almost always find lots of a particular type of mob. For instance, at 195 you can harvest Orelings in Tempest Plains of Shimmersand, where they are so thick you cannot swing a cat without hitting one. Thicker than mosquitoes in Texas in July. At skill 210, you can move to Deadman Gorge and harvest the Golems there.

This list is intended to help guide you through the fastest way to level Mining. Remember, the fastest leveling occurs when your Skill is close to the minimum skill required (Orange difficulty). This will change to Yellow 10 points above the minimum, Green 10 points after that, and Grey (trivial; no skill increase) after another 10.
